Glossary

Vanilla had its own language, Forever added a second one, and the guild Discord has a third. Returning players lose more time to “what does SR mean” than to any boss. This page defines all three languages once, in tables, so the rest of the site can use the words without stopping to explain them. Forever-specific entries carry evidence tags; the vanilla entries are how the words were used in 2005 and in Classic and mean the same thing here unless the table says otherwise.

Term Meaning
MS>OS Main spec over off spec. Anyone who needs an item for the spec they raid as rolls before anyone who wants it for a secondary spec. The guild’s default rule for the 10 and 20.
SR, soft reserve Before the raid, each player names one item they want; if it drops, only the people who reserved it roll. Declared in the Discord thread before pull one.
HR, hard reserve An item the raid leader or host removes from the roll entirely, usually for the host. The guild does not hard reserve inside guild runs.
+1 A tally mark. Once you win an item you have a +1 and lose ties to anyone at zero until they catch up. Optional in the 10.
BoP Bind on pickup. Bound to whoever loots it, so it cannot be traded or sold. Vanilla had a short trade window only in later patches; Forever’s window is unconfirmed. vanilla baseline
BoE Bind on equip. Tradeable and sellable until someone equips it. Raid BoEs go to the bank alt or a roll; the loot rules say which.
BiS Best in slot. The single best item for a slot in the current tier. No trustworthy Forever BiS list exists yet. verified
pre-BiS, pre-raid BiS The best gear you can get from dungeons, quests, crafting and PvP before raiding. Forever re-itemized every dungeon drop, so Classic lists do not apply. verified
Tier set, T1 The class armor set that drops in a raid tier. Forever’s “Season 1” sets have 2, 3, 4 and 5 piece bonuses instead of vanilla’s 3, 5 and 8. verified
Set bonus The extra effect from wearing several pieces of one set.
Legendary Orange-quality item. Blizzard confirmed one tied to the launch raids and a separate questline in Spring 2027; item unknown. verified
DKP Dragon kill points. Points earned by attendance, spent on loot by bidding. The guild does not run DKP below 25 raiders.
EPGP Effort points divided by gear points. A DKP variant where priority is the ratio of what you have contributed to what you have received. Not used here.
Loot council A small group applies a written rubric (upgrade size, attendance, items received this tier, role impact) and assigns loot. The guild’s rule for the 20, with public loot history.
GDKP Gold DKP. Loot is auctioned for gold and the pot is split among the raid. Banned in Forever by Blizzard. verified
Master loot, ML A loot mode where one person hands out every drop. Whether Forever keeps it is unanswered. unverified
Need / greed / pass The group loot roll buttons. Need is a /100 roll for use, greed for vendor or disenchant.
/roll The in-game random number, 1 to 100. The tiebreak for everything.
Ninja Someone who takes loot they were not entitled to, or loots a chest the group was rolling for. Wearing the tabard while doing it in a pug is a kick offense.
Lockout, raid ID Once a boss dies your character is saved to that raid until it resets. Forever’s lockout lengths are unannounced. verified
Reset The moment a lockout clears. Vanilla: Onyxia 5 days, Molten Core 7. vanilla baseline
Farm vs progression Farm is content you clear reliably; progression is content you are still learning. Loot and bench rules differ between them.

Pug Pick-up group: strangers from chat. Also a verb.
Premade A pre-formed group, usually for battlegrounds.

Debuff limit Vanilla capped debuffs on a target at 16, which squeezed Warlocks and Shadow Priests. Forever’s limit is undocumented. unverified
Attunement A quest chain required to enter a raid. None for the three launch raids. verified
Dungeon key An item needed to open a dungeon or wing (Seal of Ascension for UBRS, Crescent Key for Dire Maul West). Unconfirmed for Forever. vanilla baseline

Res, rez Resurrection. Priests, Paladins, Shamans and Druids have one; Druids now get Revive at 12 out of combat and keep Rebirth for combat. unverified
