PvP

Forever’s PvP is vanilla’s 14-rank honor system rebuilt as a seasonal progress bar. Nobody has to grind 16 hours a day to hit High Warlord; the rank track resets each patch cycle and everyone who puts in the weeks can climb it. Add a new 15v15 battleground with its own reputations and a rare PvP set that needs no rank, and PvP becomes a real gearing path for casual players, not just a hobby.

  • Rulesets are Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, and Hardcore later. On the PvP ruleset an account can only create characters for one faction. Normal, RP and Hardcore allow both. verified
  • Normal ruleset: PvP “when they choose to engage in it”, by flagging. PvP ruleset: “every trip into contested territory” carries open-world conflict. verified
  • Battlegrounds may include players from other rulesets, except Hardcore, which is separate. Normal-ruleset players can queue BGs freely. verified
  • Faction balance on the PvP ruleset is “an important consideration”, modeled on Season of Discovery tools. verified
  • World PvP kills reportedly award a small flat honor amount, with BGs paying several times more per hour. This comes from a site that gets basic facts wrong (see vapor note below). unverified

The ruleset decision is the guild’s, made before launch, and it is permanent for raiding purposes because rulesets cannot raid together. See Join.

Tim Jones, Assistant Lead Classic Designer: “when you fight other players in Battlegrounds and complete PvP-related content, you’ll gain honor. That honor will help you progress through a ranking system, and within a season or within a patch cycle, you’ll be able to get to rank 14 within that patch cycle, and there are rewards, cosmetic rewards, as well as PvP armor that has stats on it.” verified

Versus vanilla: no more weekly percentile ladder where only the top few on the realm reach 14. It is a progress bar per season. Blizzard also said it wants Honor gains tuned so people do not grind only Alterac Valley. unverified

From Wowhead’s PvP overview of the beta client, all “subject to change”. datamined

Level brackets reported by a boost site citing Icy Veins: WSG 10+, AB 20+, Darkspear Islands 30+, AV 51+. unverified

Wowhead’s guide lists four launch BGs and the Q&A discussion makes WSG, AB and AV at launch the reasonable expectation, but there is still no Blizzard text listing them. Tag as expected, not confirmed.

  • Darkspear Islands rep for alts and trinkets. Week 8 in First eight weeks is the first scheduled PvP night.
  • If the guild picks the PvP ruleset, everyone’s alts are the same faction. Decide with eyes open.
