Professions overview
Professions are how a friends-and-family guild makes its own raid consumables, its own bags, its own enchants, and its own repair bot at the dungeon door. Forever keeps vanilla’s twelve professions and its fixed-material crafting, then adds 600 to 900 new recipes, moves healing potions into First Aid, and bolts on a camping system that turns every profession, including Fishing, into a group buff. This page is the map; each profession has its own page with a 1 to 300 leveling path.
The rules
Section titled “The rules”| Rule | Forever status | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Two primary professions max | Yes. The level 3 to 4 starter quest gives a gathering manual only “if they lack two professions.” | verified |
| Secondaries are free | Cooking, First Aid and Fishing do not count against the two slots. Take all three. | verified |
| Skill cap 300 | Yes. Beta is capped at 225 for every profession. | verified |
| Rank gates | Journeyman at skill 50 and level 10, Expert at 125 and level 20, Artisan at 200 and level 35. Identical to vanilla. | verified |
| Fixed mats, fixed stats | “The profession system is the same as in WoW Classic; crafting items has fixed material requirements, and the crafted items will always have the same stats.” | verified |
| Legacy points | One account-wide point at 150, 225 and 300 for each of the six crafting professions (18 total). Gathering and secondaries give none. | verified |
| 300-skill title | Each crafting profession sells a Certification item that unlocks an account-wide title (Alchemist, Blacksmith, Enchanter, Engineer, Leatherworker, Tailor). Price is 1,000 Merchant’s Favor per three sources; one site lists 80 silver. | conflict |
| Camp objects | Every profession, including all three secondaries, contributes three camp objects at skill 20 / 140 / 300 (Cooking at 1 / 90 / 200 / 300). | verified |
| Second wave | “Professions and Legacy updates” is on Blizzard’s roadmap for Summer 2027. | verified |
“Mats” are materials. “BoP” is bind on pickup (the crafter must use it). “BoE” is bind on equip (tradeable). Orange, yellow, green and grey recipe colors mean guaranteed, likely, unlikely, and no skill-up.
What changed from vanilla
Section titled “What changed from vanilla”| Change | Detail | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Healing potions moved to First Aid | Minor (1), Lesser (55), Healing (110), Greater (155), Superior (215), Major (275). Recipes want Mild and Hot Spices from cooking vendors plus herbs and vials. Alchemy keeps mana potions, elixirs, flasks, transmutes and a “Discolored” healing line. | changed in Forever |
| 600+ new recipes | Blizzard’s floor. Fan sites reading the 1.60.1 client count 927 new (foreverchanges.pro) or 1,068+ (zockify), because the client holds placeholders. Treat “roughly 900 new” as the beta reality. | verified |
| Camping | Cooking campfire with 3 / 5 / 10 object slots; every profession places buffs, vendors, repairs or crafting stations. Tier 2 and 3 objects come from Blueprints that drop from dungeon bosses. | changed in Forever |
| Merchant’s Favor | Fill Waylaid Supply Crates, hand in at Three Corners (Alliance, Redridge) or outside the Crossroads (Horde, Barrens). Buys ~316 recipes, neck enchants, relics, titles, the Pack Kodo (6,000 Favor). | changed in Forever |
| Cooking food gives XP | “Crafted food now can grant a small experience bonus and stat boosts.” The percentage is not published. | verified |
| New materials | Azerothium, Legionite, Demonsteel and Elementium Bars; Pristine Leather, Fel Leather, Pristine Hide; Magenta, Cerulean and Viridian Dye; Mote of Magic; Malleable Essence of Nature. Torbernite ore, Marefoil and Death Lotus herbs appear only in search snippets. | verified for bars, leathers, dyes, Mote; unverified for the ore and herbs |
| Enchanting relics and necks | Idols, librams and totems are now Enchanting crafts; first-ever neck enchants (skill 210, Merchant’s Favor). | changed in Forever |
| Old leveling guides break | Leatherworking: “198 of 235 Classic patterns stop giving skill about 25 points sooner.” Enchanting’s Runed Copper Rod now needs a Mote of Magic. Alchemy’s healing-potion route is gone. Do not copy a Classic 1 to 300 guide. | verified |
| Reagent bag | A fifth bag slot on every character for reagents and crafting mats. Personal bank is 48 slots with 8 bank bag slots. | verified |
New recipe counts by profession
Section titled “New recipe counts by profession”Two fan sites read the beta client. The gap is counting method: zockify counts camp objects and placeholders; foreverchanges leaves out recipes whose output the client does not describe yet.
| Profession | Total recipes (new) per foreverchanges | Merchant’s Favor recipes | New per zockify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alchemy | 179 (70) | 30 | 72 |
| Blacksmithing | 437 (197) | 61 | 203 |
| Enchanting | 229 (66) | 40 | 63 |
| Engineering | 241 (76) | 29 | 80 |
| Leatherworking | 512 (271) | 82 | 289 |
| Tailoring | 414 (180) | 68 | 186 |
| Cooking | 123 (42) | 6 | 44 |
| First Aid | 31 (17) | 0 | 17 |
| Herbalism, Mining, Skinning, Fishing | 3 camp objects each | 0 | 3 each |
| Total | 2,186 (927 new) | 316 | 1,068+ |
verified from foreverchanges.pro and zockify.com. Warcraft Tavern quotes smaller numbers (Alchemy 29, Enchanting 40) because it counts only new named items. unverified
The twelve at a glance
Section titled “The twelve at a glance”| Profession | Type | Makes | Natural partner | Camp objects (20 / 140 / 300) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alchemy | Craft | Mana potions, elixirs, flasks, transmutes, thrown combat potions | Herbalism | Mana Well / Fermenter / Alchemy Laboratory |
| Blacksmithing | Craft | Plate and mail, weapons, sharpening stones, new fist weapons | Mining | Sharpening Wheel / Anvil / Master Forge |
| Enchanting | Craft | Permanent enchants, wands, oils, relics, neck enchants | Tailoring | Enchanted Lute / Arcane Salvager / Arcane Forge |
| Engineering | Craft | Bombs, scopes, guns, ammo, goggles, transporters | Mining | Reagent Bot / Repair Bot / Anarchist’s Workbench |
| Leatherworking | Craft | Leather and mail, armor kits, quivers, bags | Skinning | Camp Tent / Tanning Rack / Sewing Machine |
| Tailoring | Craft | Cloth armor, bags, shirts, dyed variants | Enchanting | Faction Banner / Spinning Wheel / Loom |

| Mining | Gather | Ore, bars, stones for Blacksmithing and Engineering | Blacksmithing or Engineering | Lodestone / Rock Garden / Molten Foundry |
| Skinning | Gather | Leather and hides for Leatherworking | Leatherworking | Camp Chair / Field Guide / Trapper’s Workbench |

| First Aid | Secondary | Healing potions, bandages, tourniquets, poultices | Everyone | First Aid Kit / Toxin Study / Plague Doctor’s Laboratory |
| Fishing | Secondary | Fish for Cooking, Fishing buff foods | Cooking | Fish Bowl / Fishing Rack / Fishing Hut |
Pairing by class
Section titled “Pairing by class”The classic pairing logic holds because the crafting model is unchanged. Two Forever wrinkles: every class wants First Aid, and camp objects mean gatherers give group buffs too, so a raid does not want twenty Tailor/Enchanters. The table below matches expcarry’s published pairing table; the reasoning column is ours. verified
| Class | Default pair (self-sufficiency) | Alternative (gold or raid utility) | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Mining + Blacksmithing | Mining + Engineering | Plate and weapons. Sharpening Wheel and Lodestone are melee camp buffs |
| Paladin | Mining + Blacksmithing | Herbalism + Alchemy | Plate. Holy paladins lean Alchemy for mana |
| Hunter | Skinning + Leatherworking | Mining + Engineering | Mail and leather, quivers. Guns, scopes, the new Sniper Rifle and ammo are Engineering |
| Rogue | Skinning + Leatherworking | Mining + Engineering | Leather. Engineering for PvP |
| Priest | Tailoring + Enchanting | Herbalism + Alchemy | Cloth, disenchant your own crafts, new neck and off-hand enchants |
| Shaman | Skinning + Leatherworking | Herbalism + Alchemy | Mail after 40. Totems are now Enchanting relics |
| Mage | Tailoring + Enchanting | Herbalism + Alchemy | Cloth, bags, Incense Candle synergy |
| Warlock | Tailoring + Enchanting | Herbalism + Alchemy | Cloth. The Legacy perk Reagent Economy does not touch Soul Shards |
| Druid | Herbalism + Alchemy | Skinning + Leatherworking | Idols are Enchanting relics now. Flight form is not in Forever, so no gathering edge |
Pairing by guild need
Section titled “Pairing by guild need”- Gatherer + gatherer (Mining + Herbalism, or Skinning + Mining) for anyone who will play a lot in the first two weeks and does not care about crafting. Gathering sells inputs instead of betting on one crafted market and is the safest launch income. Swap one out for a craft at 40 to 50 once the guild has mats. verified
- Two crafts, zero gathering (Tailoring + Enchanting) only for people the guild will feed cloth to. In a 20 to 40 person guild you want at most 3 to 4 of these.
- Engineering is a luxury: expensive, and you can only carry two primaries. One or two dedicated engineers who are also the raid’s Repair Bot placers is the right number.
- Everyone: First Aid to 300, Cooking to at least 90 (Journeyman Campfire) and ideally 200 (Expert Campfire), one gathering profession while leveling.
The full quota table for a 30-person guild, the raid-night consumable chain and the Discord crafting request process are on Guild supply chain.
Trainers
Section titled “Trainers”Forever keeps the vanilla cities and the beta shows trainers where vanilla had them. Apprentice through Expert is taught in every capital for the core professions. Artisan (the 225+ rank) is the one that trips people up; each profession page lists the vanilla Artisan trainer, tagged vanilla baseline. Confirmed for Forever so far: First Aid’s rank structure and the Deneb Walker / Balai Lok’Wein manual vendors, and Alchemist Pestlezugg in Tanaris still selling Transmute: Gold Bar. verified
Legacy perks for crafters
Section titled “Legacy perks for crafters”Read Legacy for the full trees. The short version for someone who crafts or gathers: Working Overtime 5 first (+20% skill-up chance on any tradeskill, including First Aid and Cooking), then Bountiful Harvest if you gather, then Bartering 2 (10% off vendor mats), then Dedicated Study at the 10-point gate. That is 13 of your 16 points. verified
Unknown as of 2026-09-24
Section titled “Unknown as of 2026-09-24”- Blueprint drop sources. Blizzard says dungeon bosses; nobody has published one boss-to-Blueprint mapping. Whether Blueprints are BoE or BoP is unknown.
- Blacksmithing specializations: spells exist in the client; one site says no specialization “appears,” another says “still in the client.” Leatherworking specs are undocumented.
- Whether profession tools (Mining Pick, Skinning Knife, Blacksmith Hammer) are still required. No loaded source addresses it.
- Certification price: 1,000 Favor vs 80 silver.
- Journeyman / Expert Campfire skill levels: 90 / 200 vs 140 / 220 between sources, probably build drift.
- Everything above skill 225 is client data, not play-tested.
