Camping

Camping is Forever’s replacement for the world-buff meta: a Cooking campfire that up to ten players decorate with profession objects, each giving an hour-long buff, a vendor, repairs or a crafting station to everyone who sits at it. It is “not quite a profession” but every profession, including all three secondaries, feeds it. For a friends-and-family guild that owns no world buffs, a full Expert Campfire at the raid entrance is the raid-buff package. This page is the whole system. Per-profession detail is on each profession page.

The quest “The Great Outdoors” appears in every starting zone around level 4 to 5. You /sit at the quest giver’s campfire; the reward is directions to the nearest Cooking trainer. Buy Simple Wood and Flint and Tinder from that trainer, learn Basic Campfire Kit at Cooking 1, and craft it. verified from the Blizzard Deep Dive recap, the Wowhead camping guide and classicwowforever.

  • Outdoors only. The spell “is flagged for outdoor use, outside combat and shapeshifting, and excludes instances, raids and arenas.” verified
  • Developer interviews also mention city restrictions and minimum spacing between camps. unverified, secondhand.
  • Placement has its own 5-minute cooldown. verified
  • The camp lasts about 15 minutes per database records. unverified in play. Whether it can be extended is unknown.

Journeyman Campfire Kit 90 (Wowhead, classicwowforever) or 140 (foreverchanges) conflict 5 Blueprint (item 273087)

“Each player can contribute one object” per camp, and “those objects share a one-hour cooldown” across all your professions. verified So a solo player with two professions still places one object per hour; a five-person dungeon group with a Journeyman fire fills all five slots; a raid needs ten different people with ten different professions to fill an Expert fire.

The Legacy perk Field Guide (Adventure tree) cuts the one-hour object cooldown by 8 / 17 / 25%. See Legacy.

Sit or craft within the camp for 1 minute. Buffs last 1 hour, scale with character level, and are exclusive with the matching class buff: Mana Well and Blessing of Wisdom, Lodestone and Battle Shout style attack power buffs, Faction Banner and Divine Spirit, and so on. “Camp buffs are not simply extra copies of class buffs … equivalent effects do not stack.” verified You do not need the profession to receive a buff, only to place the object.

The Legacy perk Permanence (Resourcefulness tree) makes camp rest benefits last 50 / 100% longer, per Wowhead. Whether that covers the stat buffs or only the Camp Tent’s rested XP is not clear from the wording. unverified

  • Each craft yields two objects, consumed on use. verified
  • Objects are tradeable, but the placer must meet the skill requirement. A non-crafter can carry a Camp Chair and hand it to a skinner at the door. verified
  • Tier 1 objects (skill 20) are trainer-taught or taught by the camping intro NPC. Cooking’s campfire is at skill 1. verified
  • Tier 2 (140) and Tier 3 (300) are Blueprints “that drop from specific dungeon bosses” (Blizzard). verified The strongest Blueprints reportedly sit behind the level 55 to 60 dungeons Blackmaw Hold and Shaper’s Terrace. unverified, boost-site claim.
  • foreverchanges lists the Blueprint item IDs (273085 through 273117) with “source not specified.” verified
  • The Legacy perk Reagent Economy makes Tier 1 objects free to craft.

Tier 2 and 3 objects keep the tier 1 buff (the Anvil still gives the Sharpening Wheel buff, the Sewing Machine still gives the Tent’s rested XP). Stat numbers are the level-scaled values fan sites saw in beta, probably at level 20 to 30. Do not quote them as level 60 values. verified from the Wowhead camping guide unless tagged.

classicwowforever is explicit on repairs: “Don’t count on repairs from a bare campfire, a Reagent Bot or a higher-tier crafting station.” Only the Repair Bot repairs. verified

Ranked by what the numbers say in beta, for a 5-slot Journeyman fire:

  1. Fish Bowl (+8% all stats). Everyone.
  2. Camp Chair (+2% crit). Everyone who deals damage or heals.
  3. Lodestone (+90 AP) for a melee group, or Incense Candle (+25 Int) for a caster group. Remember both are exclusive with the matching class buff, so if you have a Warrior with Battle Shout, take the Candle.
  4. First Aid Kit (+56 Sta). Tanks and everyone.
  5. Faction Banner (+32 Spi) for healers, Mana Well for anyone without a Paladin, or the Camp Tent if you are leveling.

For a 10-slot Expert fire at a raid entrance: all of the above, plus Mana Well, Repair Bot, Enchanted Lute, Sharpening Wheel, and one open slot. That is nine professions represented, which is exactly why the guild spreads professions instead of stacking Tailor/Enchanters. The loadout is on Guild supply chain.

Perk Tree Effect
Field Guide Adventure Camp object cooldown reduced 8 / 17 / 25%
Permanence Resourcefulness Camp rest benefits last 50 / 100% longer (and long-duration class buffs)
Reagent Economy Resourcefulness Tier 1 camp objects cost no reagents
Master Chef Professions 50% chance Cooking makes an extra item, which includes campfire kits if they count as Cooking crafts unverified

verified for the first three from classicwowforever’s Legacy page. Full trees on Legacy.

Before a dungeon: one Expert Campfire from a Cooking 200 cook, then Fish Bowl, Camp Chair, Lodestone or Incense Candle, Faction Banner, First Aid Kit, and a Repair Bot at the summoning stone. The 1-hour duration means you refresh at the instance entrance, not in town. Five people with five different tier 1 objects (each costs a handful of vendor or starter mats and skill 20) is the cheapest group buff package vanilla players have ever had.

Camps are also social. Anyone can sit at anyone’s camp; the objects buff strangers too. A camp at the summoning stone before raid night will fill with people who are not in the guild, and that is fine; the cooldown is per placer, not per beneficiary.

  • Blueprint drop sources, drop rates, and BoE or BoP status.
  • Journeyman / Expert Campfire skill levels (90 / 200 vs 140 / 220).
  • Camp duration (15 minutes per database) and whether it can be extended.
  • City restrictions and minimum spacing between camps.
  • Level 60 values for every buff.
  • Whether Permanence extends stat buffs or only rested XP.
  • What seeds are, what the Rock Garden spawns, what the Fishing Rack and Hut catch.
