Discord guide

The WoW wing is a gated set of channels inside the Pass The Torch Discord. Nobody outside the wing sees them, and nobody in the wing gets a WoW ping they did not opt into. This page is the map: every channel, every bot command with an example, how Discord search actually works, how your character sheet feeds the roster, and how events are posted. If you cannot find something after reading this, !guide <whatever it is> is the fallback.

Getting in

Section titled “Getting in”
  1. Join the Discord and answer “What games do you play?” in onboarding. Picking World of Warcraft: Forever grants the WoW Forever role and reveals the wing. Already a member? The same option is under Channels and Roles at the top of the channel list, or the button in the public invite post.
  2. Want out? Hit the same button. You will never see a WoW channel or get a WoW ping again.
  3. Onboarding roles are self-selected and editable, which is why the WoW Forever role means “can see the wing” and nothing more. Ranks are granted by officers. See Ranks and titles. verified

Added when raids unlock (around November 25, ahead of the December 9 unlock): raid-signups (Raid-Helper posts only, no chat), raid-chat, loot-rules (read-only), logs, absences, a Raid voice channel, and the class-talk and professions forums.

Not in the wing on purpose: a memes channel (the parent server has one), class channels (a forum with tags does the job), profession roles (a sheet does the job until there are 15 or more players at 60). Fewer channels is the design. verified

Your character sheet

The sheet is the single source of truth for the roster, the composition board, and the profession coverage board. Fill it before launch; the bot nudges the wing weekly until then.

  1. Go to wow-roles and hit Set up my character.
  2. Pick your class, your endgame spec, your role or roles (up to two), your leveling spec if it differs, your race, and your professions (primary up to the game’s limit, up to three secondary).
  3. The bot checks the Forever race and class grid, so it will tell you if that race cannot be that class.
  4. Save. The roster channel updates within about 30 seconds, and your class and role roles are synced to match.
  5. Changed your mind? Do it again. The sheet overwrites.

The roster board shows the whole picture against the raid targets. A ten-player raid wants roughly 2 tanks and 2 or 3 healers. We will be short on healers. We always are.

Bot commands

All three bots are the guild’s own. They only answer inside WoW wing channels. Most member-facing replies are visible in channel; the name-vote board replies are private to you.

Roster bot

Compendium bot

The bridge between Discord and this site. It searches every page’s title, description, and keywords.

If a shortcut finds nothing in its section it falls back to the whole site. Nicknames and abbreviations work because every page lists them as keywords: “prot,” “ret,” “bm,” “sr,” “ony.”

Raid-Helper (when raids unlock)

Signups happen on the event post in raid-signups: hit your class and spec, or Bench, Tentative, Late, or Absence. Deadline is 24 hours before start; the roster is posted at the deadline with the bench named. /attendance shows your signup record. See Raid leading. verified

Ping roles

Three self-serve roles in wow-roles: Ping: Dungeons, Ping: Raids, Ping: PvP. They are the only WoW roles anyone can mention, and only inside lfg. Nobody uses @everyone or @here in the wing; the parent server has 108 non-WoW members and the wing exists so they never hear about any of this. verified

Class roles (Warrior through Druid, in the official class colors) and combat roles (Tank, Healer, DPS) are set from your sheet. They sit below the finance-side identity roles so your name color on the finance side does not change. They are not mentionable.

Events

Section titled “Events”
  • Every WoW event is a Discord scheduled event bound to a private WoW voice channel, never an external location. External events are visible to the whole server. verified
  • The event card’s “interested” count is social proof. Hit interested even if you are not sure.
  • Weekly recurring events can name only one weekday each, so a Tuesday and Thursday raid is two events, not one. verified
  • Raid-Helper syncs its events to the calendar. The rituals on Rituals and calendar are posted the same way.
  • Someone is in voice ten minutes before every event starts. That is the officer on duty’s job.

Threads

Section titled “Threads”

Anything ephemeral goes in a thread: one dungeon run, one loot question, one bug report. It keeps the tavern readable. The four standing threads in launch-plan:

Names reserved Post the character names you reserved from Oct 27. This becomes the guild invite list
Profession claims Claim a profession so the coverage board can flag gaps
Beta reports What works and what breaks in the beta client, especially addons
Leveling pods Find a duo or trio on your schedule for launch night. These become the first pods

Forum post titles start with a noun (“Onyxia: phase 2 positioning”), not a question, so search results read well.

Most returning players do not know these exist. Type them in the search box at the top right.

Combine them. in:#launch-plan has:image after:2026-10-27 finds every name-reservation screenshot.

Other things worth knowing: Ctrl+K jumps to any channel by name. Right-click a message, Copy Message Link to reference it anywhere. Pinned messages are under the pin icon at the top of every channel; the compendium directory is pinned in start-here.

Safety

  • AutoMod keyword rules catch gold-seller links, “wts gold,” “gdkp,” and “boost” with a dollar sign; hits go to the officers’ bot log. GDKP is banned in Forever and gold buying is punished up to permanent account loss. verified
  • Nobody in this server DMs you selling anything. Report it; it is an instant ban under the parent server rules.
  • This is a family server and some members may be minors, so channels carry honest content tags and Discord’s teen-by-default settings apply. verified

  • Whether the roster can sync from the game once Blizzard ships an API for Forever. Until then the sheet is manual and the source of truth.
  • Whether Discord Server Tags are available to the parent server. If so, the guild tag joins the identity layer.
  • Discord’s official support articles on onboarding and AutoMod AI returned errors during research; the onboarding facts above come from the developer docs and 2026 third-party guides.
